Data Library
CGG leads the industry in its commitment to building a high quality wide-azimuth Data Library. These surveys offer higher resolution, optimal multiple and noise suppression and better illumination for imaging. Data Library volumes are available with true 3D wide-azimuth processing and imaging technologies applied throughout, to give you the most insightful coverage of strategic locations:
- Central Gulf of Mexico: A range of library products including VTI Reverse Time Migration volumes are already available for three significant surveys which cover many of the recent pre-salt discoveries in the Gulf. An ongoing acquisition program continues to expand this coverage.
- Onshore North America: Our extensive library is being supplemented with programs targeting gas shales such as the Montney in British Columbia, Canada and the Haynesville in Louisiana, U.S.A. These surveys will benefit from our latest wide-azimuth processing and reservoir characterization designed to provide geoscientists and engineers with the detailed images, rock properties and fracture attributes they need to reduce reservoir development costs.

CGG has been the industry leader in the development of the wide-azimuth revolution and our actions in building premium wide-azimuth Data Library reinforce this commitment.
Finessing Wide-Azimuth Data

The Fast-Trax volume uses the velocity model from legacy narrow azimuth data. This results in a poor image due to uncertainties in the salt-flank and salt-base interpretation and the sub-salt velocities which were not properly imaged by the narrow-azimuth survey. |
The final volume benefits from a salt interpretation and sub-salt velocities updated using the wide-azimuth data. In this case the significant change in the salt-base and salt-flank interpretation has enabled much clearer |
