Brian Russell holds a B.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan, a M.Sc. from the University of Durham in the U.K. and a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary, all in Geophysics. He started his career in 1976 at Chevron Standard in Calgary as an Exploration Geophysicist and also worked for Chevron Geosciences in Houston. He has also worked for Teknica Resource Development as a Senior Explorationist, Veritas Seismic as a Research and Training Geophysicist, and Veritas Software as a Vice President of Marketing & Training. Brian is a past-President of both the Canadian SEG and the SEG and served as Chairman of The Leading Edge editorial board and as Technical Co-Chairman for the 1996 SEG Convention in Denver. From the CSEG, Brian received the Meritorious Service Award in 1995, the CSEG Medal in 1999, and Honorary Membership in 2000. In 1996, Brian and Dan Hampson jointly received the Enterprise Award from the SEG. Brian is also on the SEG Foundation Board and is currently Chairman of both the PIMS (Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences) Advisory Board and the CSEG Foundation Board. Brian is registered as a professional geophysicist in the province of Alberta. |
