New Deepwater Seismic Survey in the Orange Basin
CGG, in conjunction with Spectrum and the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), acquired a new 2D seismic survey in early 2012. It comprises around 7,000 km of long-offset data covering both held and open blocks.
Overview
These data have been processed through full prestack time migration and include added value products such as angle stacks and AVO derivatives. The survey integrates with existing 2D datasets originally acquired by CGG, and now marketed by Spectrum, to provide comprehensive coverage, allowing confident evaluation of new and existing plays in the area.
The Orange River Basin is a highly underexplored area off southwest Africa that includes the, as yet undeveloped, Kudu gas field. This combination structural and stratigraphic trap holds at least 1.4TCF of gas reserves in aeolian, Barremian-age sands which are sealed by marine shales.
