Solaris Users

ARE YOU A SOLARIS USER?
If so, we would like to hear from you.

Our current software release (CE8R4.4.1) is supported on Windows, Sun/Solaris, LINUX and SGI/IRIX platforms.

We announced in our July 2010 Newsletter that for the upcoming HRS-9 software release, we will no longer be supporting Windows 2000, Solaris 8, Solaris 9 or any SGI/IRIX version.

We are now interested to hear from Users who run Solaris 10, either as a license server and/or as their project machines.

Customer support requests for CE8 on Sun/Solaris platforms have decreased and we are trying to establish why.  Is it because the platform is more mature and therefore better supported by systems administrators?  Or is it because hardly anyone is using it?  Has everyone now migrated to LINUX?

We’d like to hear from our Solaris Users – we know you’re out there!  More specifically, we’d like to know:

  • What do you use Solaris for (license server or project machine) and why?
  • Are you planning to stay on Solaris, if so, why?
  • If you move off Solaris, what platform would you migrate to and when?

Please send your comments to supporthrs.london@cgg.com. Your feedback will only be used internally and not shared with anyone outside Hampson-Russell.
